SO EXTRAORDINARY, we had to stop at three
Take the time to explore these and you'll feel you've seen the heart of the Appalachian Range Route. Start off at the top with a visit to Sugarloaf Provincial Park. Take the lift 305-m (1,001 ft.) to the summit and survey the sweeping views of Chaleur Bay and the city of Campbellton with the rolling hills behind. (Hear some hoots and hollers? No doubt coming from the seven downhill mountain bike trails.) Down below, a wonderful lake, paddleboats and happy campers. Next, head further down the route, to the deep, untouched wilderness of Mount Carleton Provincial Park. Here you can commune with nature at its purest. Eagles, Admiral butterflies, and deer will be your companions. Dip your paddle into crystal-clear waters. Hike til it hurts. Camp under a starry canopy. Wake to the rat-a-tat of woodpeckers. You'll emerge from the forest a little different. And finally, pay homage to the woodsmen of the forests at the Kedgwick Foresty Village and Museum. It's full of heritage, folklore and facts about frontier life in the 1930s.
