Kouchibouguac National Park

Located on New Brunswick's eastern shore, Kouchibouguac National Park stretches along the Acadian Coastal Drive and boasts some of the warmest salt water north of Virginia.

Be sure to stop at the park visitor centre to visit the exhibits. Park staff will help you plan your visit at the park, and there are many activities to choose from! Take the family for an unforgettable camping adventure. Cycle along fantastic bicycle trails or walk along endless stretches of sand dunes.

Interpretative programs are offered throughout the summer for park visitors. A 3-hour Voyageur canoe adventure offers an exceptional tour of Kouchibouguac's waterways and a close-up view of the Grey seal and Common tern colonies. Join an interpreter and enjoy amusing sketches at the outdoor theatre; tune in to our stories, skits or local legends at a campfire program; experience Mi'kmaq culture or discover the park's heritage during an evening program. Children will particularly enjoy our puppet theatres and our Lagoon Life programs.

Winter Activities
During the winter, park visitors can enjoy cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, winter walking and even back-country camping. The trails start at Pijeboogwek, a cosy, heated hut where you can wax your skis or rent equipment for the day. Those who would like to try a more rustic kind of winter accommodation without sleeping outdoors will love the rustic shelters, located along the cross-country ski trail. The shelters offer a warm place to overnight and are accessible by ski, snowshoe or foot (conditions permitting).

Dark Sky Preserve
Kouchibouguac National Park is committed to protecting and preserving the integrity of the night sky by applying strict lighting guidelines to reduce light pollution. The guidelines are tailored to protect ecosystems, reduce energy consumption, maintain dark skies and promote star and planet gazing on clear nights. The project was a joint effort by Parks Canada and the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada.
