Experience the HIGHEST TIDES ON THE PLANET (Performances twice daily)
Visitors come from around the world to see, study and thrill to our record-breaking Bay of Fundy. Ancient Mi’kmaq folklore attribute our high tides to a giant whale splashing in the water. During the 12.4-hour tidal period, 100-billion tonnes of water flow in and out of the bay twice daily. At high tide, it’s amazing to kayak around the incredible giant sculptures at The Hopewell Rocks. Six hours later at low tide, you can take a stroll along the ocean floor about 12 m. (36 ft.) below the high-tide level. (That's about four storeys lower!) To witness the power of the tides, head to Reversing Rapids in the city of Saint John, and take a thrilling jet boat ride on the rapids where the tide meets the flow of the St. John River and actually reverses its flow!
