Sound IRRESISTIBLE? (That's because they are)
New Brunswick currently ranks as one of the top three maple syrup producers in Canada, guaranteeing that you will find lots of places to satisfy your sweet tooth in our province.
Canada has been a leading producer, accounting for 85 % of the world production of maple syrup, an active industry since the aboriginal people first taught settlers how to tap maple trees and boil down the sap. The main syrup-producing trees are sugar maples, red maples and silver maples. Depending on local weather, production is mainly between February and April, and most of the sugar camps are open during this two or three month window.
Products for sale at the sugar camps include syrup, jelly, lollypops, maple butter, granulated sugar, maple candy, maple-peanut spread, chocolate-covered candy and gift trays...(we could go on like this forever).
