IT'S NO WONDER people come to fish, paddle and splash in this extraordinary river
It's reputed to be one of the greatest Atlantic salmon rivers in the world. With a 250-km- (155-mi.-) long main stem, draining into a watershed of 14,000 sq. km (5,405 sq. mi.), the Miramichi is an impressive New Brunswick Natural Wonder. Half of the sport catch of Atlantic salmon in North America comes from this river and its tributaries. (Imagine that!) This is a Natural Wonder so rare and incredible it draws people like Charles, Prince of Wales, the late baseball great Ted Williams, test pilot Chuck Yeager and U.S. Army General Norman Schwarzkopf hoping to hook the king of fish. But don't let celebrity status put you off! Anyone is more than welcome to enjoy the river's history, sport fishing challenges and idyllic scenery.
