Butterflies, Birds and Forest Friends – Experimental Forest

Experience Collection

The great outdoors beckons you. Follow a wooded trail to 25 fascinating interpretation spots where an experienced forester will introduce you to our rich forestry heritage. Marvel at this 830-hectare (2,050-acre) experimental site where university researchers and students learn how to manage our forest inheritance. Listen to birds chirping while you identify trees and plants, see the first public tree plantation and learn how we conserve, protect and nurture the forests to ensure future sustainability. Stop for a snack and stories at the ‘tall white pine gathering place’ and select your forest souvenir. You’ll leave the trail with a rich store of information about the trees, plants, birds and wildlife that make up this ecosystem. You may even spy one of the beautiful butterflies that call the forest home!
