We are the biggest inshore wharf in Canada with 93 lobster fishermen. In the spring, lobster fisheries have between 25 to 30 other boats that come to fish herring and mackerel. In the months of April, May and June we’ve had up to 450 boats at the wharf at one time!
The wharf has a perimeter of 2.5 km (1.6 mi.). Gas and diesel fuel are available for boats as well as cars. Near the wharf you’ll find 2 big lobster plants and a restaurant/ice cream bar with the best seafood in the area. Stop in for a bite!
We also have some of the friendliest people and fishermen you’ll meet. They’re happy to stop and chat with you, telling stories about our history and the Escuminac Disaster, an awful tragedy 50 years ago where the community lost 35 fisherman.
