PROVINCIAL HERITAGE PLACE

The MacDonald Farm in Lower Newcastle overlooks the Miramichi River and is situated in a beautiful pastoral setting. To discover its secrets and appreciate the charming scenery, visitors can follow a winding trail that leads to the historic homestead.

Located on Route 11, 13 km (8 mi.) north of the City of Miramichi, the site tells the story of early Scottish settler Alexander MacDonald, his family and the way of life in the early 19th century.

Tour the beautiful 200 year old stone house with costumed guides, visit with the animals, ride on the horse and wagon, check out the garden. Observe the daily chores around the farm. Take time to beach comb along the beautiful shore.
