Mount Carleton Provincial Park (Campground)

Establish your base camp at the foot of the highest mountain in the Maritimes. Breathtaking scenery, hiking and biking trails, birdwatching, water sports, swimming and fishing await at Mount Carleton Provincial Park. Set up your own tent or enjoy the rustic comfort of a lakeside cabin.

CAMPGROUNDS

Armstrong Campground:

The largest campground at the park. 88 sites for trailers or tents. Spectacular views of Nictau Lake and Mount Sagamook, as well as a nice beach, washrooms, showers, dry toilets, a kitchen shelter and a dumping station for trailers. A canteen is open during camping season for all your camping needs, including fishing licenses.

Williams and Franklin Campgrounds:

17 large, secluded tenting sites on both sides of Nictau Lake. Dry toilets, garbage bins and recycling bins.

Group Camping:

This site can accommodate up to 75 campers. Includes a kitchen shelter, garbage and recycling bins and water (hand pump).

Headwaters Campground:

4 sites located partway up Mount Carleton Trail for a more extreme camping experience. Pit toilets and tree food storage are the only on-site amenities.

HERITAGE CABINS

Bathurst Lake:

Five log cabins that are partly solar, partly propane powered with generator backup. Each sleeps 4 to 10 people and features a wood stove and wooden bunk beds. Guests have access to a separate building with washrooms and showers and a separate kitchen area with propane stoves and electric refrigerators.

Nictau Lake:

Seven cabins with different configurations that can sleep from 2 to 8 people. Six of the cabins have kitchen, bathroom and cook stove facilities. Guests have access to a separate building with washrooms and showers. Available beginning June 10, 2013.

When staying at a Heritage Cabin it is recommended that you bring an air mattress, sleeping bag, pillow, drinking water, food, dishes, utensils, dish soap, towels and dish cloths, insect repellent and a cooler. All camp and cabin sites have firepits.

Winter

In winter, most roads remain unplowed and form part of the snowmobile trail system. For those who enjoy cross-country skiing and snowshoeing, we offer un-groomed scenic trails. Unserviced wilderness camping is also available.
