St. Stephen is Canada’s Chocolate Town, home of Ganong Bros Ltd., Canada’s oldest candy company, and is the place to “Discover the Wonder of Chocolate”. Follow the sweet history of this small-town community, which is also one of the busiest Canadian/U.S. border crossings in the province.

Take a walking tour of the town, through leafy streets where architecture and ambience set the scene for a visit to the downtown Ganong Chocolatier candy shop. With its period ambience, this inviting bandbox candy store smells rich and sugary, with a vast array of hand-dipped, luxury chocolates and other sweet delights on display. You get to sample a few free treats but you won’t be able to resist buying more to take along with you. After all, what’s a vacation without some sweet souvenirs?

At the Chocolate Museum you will find out how candy was made in years gone by, and you can watch as exquisite samples of chocolates are hand-dipped before your eyes.
Take a short drive out of town where you will find Ganong Nature Park, a 142-ha (350-acre) natural park, featuring a spectacular coastline that overlooks the St. Croix River. The park has woods, fields, many walking trails and 73 ha (180 acres) of intertidal areas.

Stroll the Riverfront Walking Trail along the scenic St. Croix River and watch for eagles overhead or even catch a view of an eagle “fishing.” On those lovely, summer Thursday evenings, finish the day with a stop at the David Alison Ganong Chocolate Park for the toe-tappin,’ finger snappin’ fun at the St. Stephen Musical Concert Series.
