Letete - Deer Island Ferry

Deer Island is surrounded by the high tides of the Bay of Fundy, and is located at the mouth of Passamaquoddy Bay near the border of the Province of New Brunswick and the State of Maine.

Deer Island has three communities – Fairhaven, Leonardville and Lords Cove. Throughout the year Deer Islanders can be found busy at fishing and aquaculture, although tourism is growing in importance. Deer Island sits about 4 km (3 mi.) from Letete, New Brunswick.

Coastal Transport Limited is pleased to offer daily trips to Deer Island. We provide a brief, no charge ferry ride from Letete. You'll enjoy a short ferry ride on either the John E. Rigby or the Deer Island Princess II.

The island is home to the famous Old Sow, the largest tidal whirlpool in the western hemisphere. Deer Island Point is popular with kayakers and is well known as a destination for scuba diving.

During the summer seasonal ferries connect Deer Island with New Brunswick’s Campobello Island, and to Eastport, Maine.
