A non-profit, charitable, membership-based organization situated on the shores of Passamaquoddy Bay in the town of St. Andrews by-the-Sea, a community renowned for its natural beauty, historic past and diversity of artists.
In operation since 1964, Sunbury Shores' unique mandate is to explore the connections between art and nature.
It offers art and nature courses and workshops as well as occasional talks, walks and explorations for children, youth and adults. These use the rich, natural environment of the region as a source of artistic inspiration and scientific exploration.
The centre contains artists studios, a printmaking shop, a pottery studio, a jewelry/metal studio, an exhibition gallery, reference library and administrative offices. In addition, the centre offers contemporary music concerts in both the gallery and various local venues featuring local, regional and touring acts.
Sunbury Shores also maintains a 12 acre woodlot and nature trail less than a kilometre from the Centre. The woodlot contains examples of Acadian forest species mixed with successional stages of a former domestic small farm property.
The facility is open year-round.
